I’ll be honest I was a tad bit nervous when heading back to the thrift store after they reopened from a long three months of being closed due to coronavirus.
But I was so excited to be able to head back to one of my favorite shopping spots, but there were some things that I didn’t quite expect and you may not either so here’s what to keep an eye out for.
Changes to discounts
The store I decided to go to for my first day always offered a great deal of a 69 cents sale day on Saturdays. Yes, you heard me right 69 cents!!
Unfortunately, due to coronavirus they are no longer having this weekly promotion and are opting for a more expensive option. It is understandable and I can’t complain because it’s still 75% off, but I’m going to miss getting a dress for 69 cents!
This may be the same for local thrift shops in your area, so make sure you call first to see if they still have the same mark downs.
Store closings
While many of the thrift stores I usually frequent are remaining open, there are a few that have had to close due to hardship.
So make sure you check first to see if your thrift store is even open prior to heading out.
Placement changes
For whatever reason, many of the stores seem to be shaking things up by placing items in new places. I don’t understand the reasoning behind it, but just know you may need to get used to a new store layout.
New Policies
It’s like a whole new world in some respects and most people are required to wear mask. I chose to wear masks and gloves!
It was a policy that you wore a mask at my local thrift store and that you did NOT try on any of the clothes or shoes (although, this is something I never did anyway so it didn’t affect my shopping experience).
What other changes have you noticed while thrifting?
I did manage to grab some great finds including these shoes! What do you think? I think I’m keeping them both!
