Surprisingly, Michael Jackson tops the list as he was once quoted as saying he loved looking for “things I haven’t seen since I was little.” in the documentary, The Making of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, his love of thrifting was also noted.
2. Mackenzie Davis
Was quoted as saying, “I do a lot of thrifting, but I don’t go shopping in a concerted way very often, I find things by accident that I can’t talk myself out of, like armadillo purses”
3. ZoE Kravitz
Zoe states that she is pretty much a ‘thrift shop gal’ who also enjoys a good flea market or two. She was quoted in a Harpers Bazar interview as saying, “If I’m shopping, I really like Assembly New York on the Lower East Side, Catbird in Brooklyn, or Love Adorned in NoLita, which sells vintage jewelry and beautiful things for your house. There are fewer and fewer cool vintage stores now, unfortunately, but there’s a good one called Stock, on East 13th Street.”
4. Daryl Hannah
Mrs. Hannah loves thrift shopping, and one big reason is the positive impact on the environment. She and her husband Neil Young created a Netflix movie and the entire wardrobe was purchased from thrift stores.
5. Lorraine Kirke
Lorraine was quoted as saying, “I love to go scouring. The chase is the most fun part. I once went into this old lady’s store in England and found the most beautiful 1940s silk robe, and she had all these baskets of things, all just for ten pounds. I am not afraid to cut something out — like, I’ll buy a dress even if there’s part of it I hate, just to salvage the part that I love. It’s about the hunting and gathering! We also make wedding dresses from beautiful old lace. I go to little flea markets around New York, the Brooklyn Flea, and the one on 25th Street. If I pick up one thing, I am happy.”

Has often been seen out with her daughter, Willow, scouring through thrift stores.
Anna Sui
Was quoted as saying, “I love going to flea markets especially when I am traveling because I love seeing the stuff of other cultures, handicrafts, and things with historical content. I love the whole story of why something happened when it did and that’s what I put into the collections, where the end result might be the newest invocation of a similar historical spirit.”
6. Alice Cooper
He loved thrift stores so much that he opened his own, Alice’s Attic in Phoenix, Arizona. While closed now it was loved by many.

Debbie Harry loved thrift shopping, she said “You have to go in and hunt, and it can be very entertaining.”
8.Elle Varner
Elle Varner, known for her soul-shaking vocals is all about thrifting. In her debut video, “Only Wanna Give it to You”, she wore a jacket she found for $4 from Goodwill and has referred to herself as a ‘thrift queen’. She has been spotted at a few thrift stores in New York and Los Angeles.
9. Julia Roberts
Julia Roberts is a well-known bargain hunter as she often shops for second-hand clothes for her kids.
10. Lara Spencer
When she isn’t co-hosting the Good Morning America show you can find her diving into some thrift. She obviously has quite a love for gently used items as she wrote a book about thrift and had an HGTV show based on flea market flips. She’s not picky about where she finds her goods either as she has been quoted as saying she will find items to upcycle at thrift stores, yard sales, flea markets, and even dumpsters.
10. Janelle Monet
As we all can guess, Janelle Monet isn’t one to want to look like everyone else, she was quoted as saying, “I like one-of-a-kind pieces. I don’t like everybody walking around in stuff that I have on.”
11. Sarah Jessica Parker
Sarah has a well known love for thrift, and can be easily seen since many of her clothes on her new television show, Divorce are thrifted. She fell in love with thrifting at a young age, well before Sexa and the City, she is quoted as saying, “I was like, ‘How can I do that? How can I afford to do that? What’s my version of that?’ Honestly, thrift stores played such a huge part in my life before Sex and the City,”
12. Lourde
Lourde said this of one of her favorite thrifted items, “I got this navy blue vintage [St. John] suit with gold buttons. It fits me perfectly. I wear it on stage all the time. It’s my favorite, and I didn’t even need to get it tailored. It’s my best find by far, and it was $50, which is more than I like to spend at a thrift store.”
13. Zooey Deschanel
Zooey was an avid thrifter when she didn’t have a lot of money and could purchase things for $2 or $3 to make herself look great. She says, “There’s a picture of me I wish I could find. I would buy these big, cheap, fluffy ’50s prom dresses from thrift stores and just put them on with a tiara and sit and type at my computer. My room was a total messy-teenager disaster area, but I’d have on a vintage dress and my hair would be perfect.”
14. Eva Mendez
In an interview, she has said that she loves a cheap find and she loves the thrill of the hunt, she says “I can feel when there’s a little something, you know, where there’s gold in the hills, and I really zero in. That’s the fun part for me. The debut of my latest @nyandcompany collection has me throwing back to my first red carpet. I did my own hair and makeup and that’s a $6 dress from Goodwill. I’ve always loved a cheap find. Viva thrift shops!“
15. Helen Mirren
Helen is noted as saying “I love a good charity shop, especially when I’m traveling,” Mirren said. “When I’m going to cold places, I take nothing — just underwear. On my way from the airport, I ask the driver to take me to a good charity shop, and I buy boots, socks, trousers, jumpers, sweaters, hats, scarves…on the way back to the airport I have it all in a big bag and drop it off at another charity shop.”
16. SZA
SZA is known for performing in vintage tees, in a 2016 Vogue interview she says “When your enzymes and sweat and body oils break down these shirts, they start to feel better; they fit to your body. Eventually, I started going thrifting. You know how when you go to thrift stores and you go to the front there will be three shirts above the register that are way too expensive but way too cool? Way cooler than anything in the whole damn store? So that’s exactly what happened: I started buying those. Then I’d just be skimming the racks and find some hot shit, and be like, ‘Whoa! No one was paying attention!’ and you take it home, and then the next thing you know you have a hat and some very old shirts. And now I’m here!”

Kristen loves a great bargain and she started as a young girl since she was raised in a humble family that had modest spending practices, that included thrifting. She says she buys a ton of her clothes secondhand.
18. Drew Barrymore
If there is any star that I could see thrifting, it would be Drew Barrymore, it just seems like you would regularly find her in a cool vintage thrift store looking through the racks for hidden gems. In 2012 she even wore a dress she purchased at the thrift store for $25.
19. Tavi gevinson
In a Huffington Post interview, Tavi is noted as saying, “I honestly shop mostly at thrift stores. I think there’s a big difference between thrift and vintage. Vintage stores are usually more expensive and it’s already picked out for you, but I like thrift stores because they’re cheaper, and I kind of like having to find the gems. I just go to the Salvation Army, that’s the cheapest. And I look on Etsy for nicer vintage things that are maybe a little more expensive. And it’s good to keep an eye out for vintage fairs or events.”

While Miguel is an R&B star, he doesn’t seem to be following in the footsteps of many other stars when it comes to spending money on expensive clothes. When he is traveling he regularly visits thrift stores and has been noted as saying that thrifted clothing has more character and personality.
21. Anne Hathaway
In 2017, Anne Hathaway openly committed to solely wearing secondhand and sustainable vintage pieces for her promo tour for the movie ‘Colossal’. She kept that promise when she wore a flea market find on the show Good Morning America, which was a $15 dress.
22. Winona Ryder
As a self-proclaimed lover of all things thrift, she has been quoted as saying that most of her wardrobe is vintage. She has also worn a $10 to the Oscars and a vintage dress to Sean Penn’s Haiti gala and film premier in 2005. She states that “I know that’s kind of a no-no in the fashion world, but why wear something just once if you love it?”

Known for his hit “Thrift Shop” we of course had to end our list with Macklemore, who has dedicated his career to shouting out all things thrift!
